I have had a lifelong interest in the healing arts, and I draw on my encounters with many theories, traditions and practices in my work. My life experiences have led me to question and to broaden my definitions of health and healing. I continue to return to the basic needs of the body and psyche as ground for my work, as well as for my own wellbeing.
It is my sincerest wish to support others in finding and uncovering feelings of wellbeing and vitality by engaging with practices and perspectives that support the care of the body-mind, community, and the soul life, or life of the psyche. As a mother, student, wellness guide and friend, I am committed to the practice of being with others in mutual respect and reciprocity as a way of living and healing.
I became an esthetician and spa body therapist in 1995, practicing in California and Hawaii for several years. I then returned to school to finish my B.A. in psychology with a minor in child development. After working with the Bach flower remedies since 1999, I became a registered Bach Flower Remedies Practitioner in 2013. I am also a member of the Bach Flower Practitioner Alliance in the United States.
I now hold a master’s degree in depth psychology and somatic studies, and am working toward my Ph.D. in these disciplines, My research focuses on the experience of mothers. In my own wellness journey, I have experienced both alternative modalities and modern approaches to health and wellness, and I find that each has something to offer. I have studied and experienced a variety of wellness modalities including aromatherapy, reiki, ayurvedic body care, homeopathy, yoga, dreamwork, Feldenkrais, Focusing, and art therapy modalities such as bodymapping and collage.
Bach flower remedies are gentle herbal preparations that address emotions, moods and mental states. The 38 remedies were discovered by forward-thinking physician, bacteriologist and homeopath Dr. Edward Bach in the 1920s and 1930s as he searched for a gentler form of medicine that could address the personality of the patient. The 38 remedies plus the crisis formula are a complete and simple self-help system that has been used ever since in many countries around the world.
Bach remedies can support us in handling stress and tension of all kinds. Fear, worry, loneliness, impatience, apathy and grief are some of the emotions that we all can experience, and that the remedies can help move through us. The idea is not to nullify or eradicate the emotions, but to learn from them as symptoms that can deepen our experience of life.
